The Egg of the Celts

In the province of Macerata, in the small town of Sarnano, a must-see attraction is the Celtic Egg, a large stone egg with a small basin on top, positioned in front of the town’s church. Legend has it that the egg, filled with water, was used by the Celts as a kind of small astronomical observatory, since the sky was reflected in the water of the basin. The “magical” egg attracts tourists from all over Italy.
