Furminande
The Word – “Furminande” is the word used in the Macerata and Fermo dialects for a matchstick. But reducing it to that would be a mistake: it is a miniature lightning bolt, a spark ready to become fire, light, and beginnings.
The Landscape – In the Marche region, even the simplest objects are transformed by language. A matchstick becomes something more powerful, almost mythical: you are not simply lighting a flame, you are unleashing energy. Everyday life charged with imagination.
The Translation – The spark you didn’t know you needed to set your world on fire.
The Philosophy – “Furminande” is a perfect example of how Marche dialect magnifies the small, transforming an ordinary gesture into a symbolic act. A word that ignites stories, atmospheres, and possibilities.
The Visual Interpretation – The graphic design translates this energy into a visual sign: a blazing lettering built with rhythm and tension, accompanied by elements that evoke sparks, flames, and sudden bursts of energy. The mark appears ready to ignite at any moment, transforming the word into a dynamic and powerful visual gesture. Part of the WhatYouSay research project on the language of places.
