Li Pistacoppi – Un gorbu toh!
In Macerata, “Pistacoppi” are not just pigeons.
The word comes from the image of the birds living on the city rooftops, walking on the coppi, the traditional terracotta roof tiles. From this everyday presence comes an affectionate and ironic nickname used to describe the people of Macerata themselves: Li Pistacoppi.
